The Education Edge

What makes it hard for most people to get started on any fitness program? Knowledge is power! We at Bionics feel that when you educate a client on the specifics of there program weather it is a small thing like what does protein after a workout do for you? What is the difference between 40 minutes cardio session to 20 minutes of interval training? These things are very important. Bionics teaches clients the how too's but also the what's and why's of training. Sometimes it takes longer to educate a client than others but the result is still the same. Power and motivation are intangable assests to people and when you can instill this into any client they will perform better and become more committed to what they are wanting to acheive.

Did you know?

We all have used a treadmill or a bike in the gym and have seen the Fat burining zone diagram usually on the wall or on the machine to dipict the zone in which you should be working to burn fat and lose weight right! The zone in which most of a concerned about fall between 60-70% of maximal heart rate. We must understand that at this intensity the body is burning fat but not well enough to make the proper gains over a peroid of time. As intensity increases so does caloric expenditure. This is what we should be focusing on. Our primary goal should be cardiovascular improvement which means learning to increase intenisity of the workout over a period  of time. E.g. walking on a flat incline for 30 min @ 60% heart rate max burns 175 clories and 9 grams of fat burned. Now 15 min of wlaking up a hill on a 5% incline @ 85% heart rate max burns aprox 412 claories and 18 grams of fat burned. There is a direct effect to progressively increasing intensity over time to get the desired result. We must learn to get past our comfort zones to get better results.
